According to officials of the American Consulate, Li was tortured by prison guards, and Chinese policemen continuously force-fed him as punishment for his hunger strike. In the end, she appealed to everyone to help rescue Charles Li. People can write letters or make phone calls to China or American officials, requesting the immediate release of Charles Li.
