Published on 5/18/2002 On May 13, 2002, 34-year-old French citizen and Canadian permanent resident, Mr. Martial Bachoffner, unfolded a Falun Gong banner reading "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square, and loudly chanted "Falun Dafa is good." Afterward, Chinese authorities quickly deported him. He stopped over in Japan en route to Canada on the night of May 14.On the afternoon of May 15, Mr. Bachoffner held a press conference in Tokyo.With a compassionate heart, Mr. Bachoffner told every Chinese person he met in China, including artists, teachers, drivers and policemen, that "Falun Dafa is good." One Chinese citizen, who does not practice Falun Gong, said to him, "We know that Falun Dafa is good, Falun Dafa is in our hearts, though at present, we can’t openly say it."

Published on 6/17/2002 Reports from Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania ---On June 11, 12, and 14, Falun Gong practitioners held press conferences at Riga, the capital of Latvia, at Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, and at Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, respectively. Major local media including over 20 TV stations, radio stations and newspapers sent reporters to attend the press conferences. As a victim of the persecution, while carrying her 2-year-old daughter Ms. Dai Zhizhen told the story of her husband Mr. Chen Chengyong, who was beaten to death by the police simply for appealing for Falun Gong. She also talked about the story of her sister-in-law, who was sentenced to a forced labor camp for refusing to give up her cultivation practice. Dai’s father-in-law was not able to endure the emotional anguish and passed away shortly after his son’s death.

Published on 8/16/2002 Human rights and criminal defense attorney, Ms. Terry Marsh had just come back from Hong Kong, where she audited the trial. According to her observations, "The Hong Kong government provided no witnesses to prove the case. No one other than the police who carried out the arrest attested to any obstruction. The on-spot video footage taken during the incident showed that the walkway is fairly wide, spacious enough to let people pass without any obstruction." She said, "It is just as many people have observed, and it is indeed so, that the conviction of this trial was manufactured by the Beijing government."

Published on 9/2/2002 On August 30, 2002, their activity approved by the Paris Police Department, Falun Dafa practitioners held a peaceful protest in front of the Cambodian Embassy. They were there to protest that the Cambodian government had openly violated its international covenants and deported two Chinese Falun Gong practitioners who were under the protection of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. The United Nations’ Covenant stated that the Cambodian government has the responsibility of protecting the applicants, but instead they sent them back to China.

Published on 10/25/2002 The purpose of the press conference was to call on the Prime Minister to raise the issue of ending the persecution against Falun Gong in China. The press conference was hosted by the former Chairman of the Alliance Party and Foreign Affairs Critic, Mr. Stockwell Day. The MPs attending the conference included Mr. Irwin Cotler from the current ruling party, Mr. Scott Reid, and Antoine Dube from "Bloc Quebecois." Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang Li, whose husband was sentenced to three and a half years imprisonment for practicing Falun Gong, traveled from Toronto to attend the conference. Ms. Jeanette represented the Falun Dafa practitioners of Canada and delivered a speech at the conference.
