Published on 8/15/2004 On 8/13/04, Falun Gong practitioners in Australia held a press conference in Canberra and delivered an open letter to Mr. Downer as well as a list of Australian residents’ family members who are subjected to persecution in China for upholding their practice of Falun Gong. Practitioners called upon the Foreign Minister to openly condemn the ongoing persecution of Falun Gong in China during his state visit to China. They hoped that the Minister would request China to release those Australian residents’ family members.

Published on 8/30/2004 (8/10/04): Dafa practitioners visited the local TV station. We were interviewed by a reporter and a photographer. We started the interview by demonstrating the five sets of Falun Gong exercises. Then we mentioned the widespread popularity of Falun Gong in China and the unlawful persecution of Falun Gong by the Jiang group. We also talked about over one hundred torture methods employed by China’s labor camps to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. Finally we called on Jiang and his regime to promptly stop the persecution of Falun Gong.

After the news was disclosed, there were many telephone calls to contact persons of the Falun Dafa Association and every practice site on the Japan Falun Dafa website. And Dafa Association held a press conference on 9/2/04 in Tokyo.
