Published on 10/31/2002 On the afternoon of October 29, 2002, three Falun Dafa practitioners from Hong Kong and practitioners in the greater New York Area held a press conference on the square in front of the UN. They prepared an appeal letter to UN Secretary Mr. Annan and called on all kindhearted people in the world to pay attention to a Hong Kong issue -- that under pressure from the Mainland regime, the Hong King government plans to enact Article 23 of the Basic Law and break the promise of "one country, two systems."
Published on 12/16/2002 Organizers of the Against Article 23 March said that about 60,000 Hong Kong residents participated in the march on December 15, 2002, which planners believed would be attended by about 5000. The march also set a new record as the most attended march since Hong Kong returned to China. It also demonstrated the power of people who are against Article 23. It was the second largest public political statement after the Tiananmen Student democracy movement in 1989.
Published on 12/17/2002 On December 15, 2002 at 11 am, Canadians from all walks of life gathered in front of Art Gallery Square of Vancouver to hold a rally opposing Hong Kong’s Article 23 legislation, to support similar activities happening around the world, and to raise awareness in society on this issue. Vancouver’s local major Chinese and English media including World Daily Journal, Ming Pao, Epochtimes, Xingdao Daily, Xintangren TV and New Times TV etc., in total more than ten newspapers, televisions, radio stations carried on-the-spot coverage.

Published on 12/21/2002 BBC reported on December 20 that a survey had found that the Hong Kong media community is worried about the anti-subversion legislation on Article 23. Over 80% of Hong Kong’s reporters think that legislation on Article 23 will negatively affect freedom of the press, for example while conducting interviews and reporting news.

Published on 2/27/2003 In the morning of February 25, 2003, Dafa disciples in Gothenburg and surrounding cities came to the Chinese Consulate in Gothenburg to protest against Hong Kong’s proposed Article 23, which disregards the democracy and freedom of Hong Kong’s people. Because the Chinese Consulate is in the industrial area, many people driving by and saw the event.

Published on 6/4/2003 On Sunday, June 1, 2003, the "Global Coalition Against Article 23 Legislation" held a rally and parade in Brisbane, Australia, peacefully protesting Hong Kong’s Article 23 Legislation. Members from several organizations participated in the rally held on Rome Street. Speakers included representatives from the "Global Coalition Against Article 23 Legislation," Falun Gong, Taiwanese social groups, and a Public Medical Health Care Coalition.
