Published on 1/22/2003 Ever since the so-called self-immolation incident occurred in Tiananmen Square, the Chinese authorities’ persecution of Falun Gong-- a popular Qigong practice in China outlawed by the Jiang regime--has clearly intensified; the hostility toward Falun Gong incited by the regime’s propaganda among the general population in China has broadly escalated; the death toll of Falun Gong practitioners has increased sharply during the police roundups and in locations such as prisons, labor camps, mental institutions, and all sorts of "re-education" classes and brainwashing centers where practitioners are illegally held.

Published on 2/25/2003 On "International Human Rights Day," December 10,2002, European Falun Gong Information Center held a press conference at 156, rue de Rivoli - 75001 Paris. At the appointed time, two lawyers representing four Falun Gong practitioners introduced their lawsuit, submitted at the Court of Nice this Wednesday, against Vice Premier Li Lanqing of the People’s Republic of China. Among the four Falun Gong practitioners was one French woman. They accuse Li Lanqing, who visited France, of being the person in charge of China’s "610 Office" and of having responsibility in the brutal tortures inflicted upon practitioners of Falun Gong.
Published on 2/25/2003 China’s "610 Office," officially called the "Office of the Leadership Team to Handle the Falun Gong Issue," derives its name from its date of establishment: June 10, 1999. It is the highest institution within the Chinese government for formulating and executing the campaign to persecute Falun Gong. It is a terrorist organization specifically established for the purpose of suppressing and persecuting innocent Falun Gong practitioners who follow the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance." The systematic and tightly conceived persecution, aimed at eradicating Falun Gong and Falun Gong practitioners through both violent and psychological means, originated from this office.

Published on 2/25/2003 Chen Zixiu, female, 58 years old, of Weifang city, Shandong province, was brutally beaten to death by the staff of the Political-Legal Committee and the "610 Office" of Weifang city for refusing to give up her belief in Falun Gong. To expose this atrocity, Ian Johnson of the Wall Street Journal published an interview article on April 20, 2000, entitled "A Deadly Exercise: Practicing Falun Gong was a Right, Ms. Chen Said, to Her Last Day." (See Appendix 2 for details.) In this article, Mr. Johnson wrote:

Published on 2/27/2004 On February 23, WOIPFG released a statement describing how the Deputy Secretary of Shijiazhuang City Communist Party Committee Li Zunying participated in the persecution of Falun Gong. The Provincial Law Education and Training Center under Li’s jurisdiction is a brainwashing center that attempts to force Falun Gong practitioners to renounce their belief. Physical and mental torture, and even fatal beatings have occurred in such brainwashing centers. Thus, WOIPFG sent a letter to the Department of Homeland Security, requesting the expulsion of Li Zunying because of his egregious human rights record.
