Published on 6/17/2002 On June 14 when Jiang visited Iceland, nearly 3000 (originally scheduled to be 1000) locals held a large-scale demonstration to protest Jiang’s violating the human rights of Falun Gong practitioners. The turnout was quite significant considering the limited population of Reykjavik. The protestors held banners and sealed their mouths with strips of black cloth to protest the unfair treatment of Falun Gong practitioners.

Jiang experienced in Iceland an outcry against his brutality from people all over the world. Because of the large-scale demonstrations, Jiang left Iceland one day ahead of schedule.
Published on 6/19/2002 After bringing forth the kind-hearted Icelandic people’s support of Falun Dafa, Jiang fled amidst public condemnation at 9:00 a.m. on June 16, 2002.

On the evening of June 15, Dafa practitioners obtained a permit to display banners beside the road that Jiang had to pass by on his way to the airport.
Published on 6/22/2002 Before the practitioners arrived in Iceland, the Jiang regime had already distributed slanderous materials against Falun Gong to Icelandic police. With righteous belief and compassion, the practitioners clarified the truth to police. All police changed their attitudes and many of them requested truth-clarifying materials from the practitioners during shift changes and before returning home.

Published on 6/15/2003 (June 11, 2003, Reykjavik) It has been a year since the Icelandic government barred the entry of Falun Gong practitioners into Iceland, marking the darkest days in Iceland’s democratic history. This unjust action was most unfortunate, yet it is even more disheartening that it has not been corrected after one year, a year in which Falun Gong practitioners made numerous efforts to communicate with Icelandic authorities to uphold principles and request the restoration of justice. Iceland Dialogue Committee (FIDC) filed a complaint to The Parliamentary Ombudsman concerning the Icelandic authorities’ unjust actions towards Falun Gong practitioners to bar their entry to Iceland before and during the visit of former head of China Jiang Zemin to Iceland in June 2002.
