Published on 8/4/2002 Like a pumpkin, Earth is a bit wider around the equator than the meridian. Since the end of the last glaciations, postglacial rebound of Earth’s crust has resulted in a net transfer of mass from the equatorial regions to high latitudes. This small mass transfer has been monitored for 25 years. This slight oblateness (by about 0.3%) results from axial rotation and large-scale mantle convection. But newest science findings suggest that since 1998, the mass transfer has changed direction.
Published on 8/4/2002 The center of our Milky Way Galaxy is inching toward an era of intense fireworks when stars will be born 100 times more frequently than today and many will die quick, explosive deaths, according to new research.
Published on 8/18/2002 The recent discoveries in astronomy made many physicists start to rethink the origin of our universe. In the August 14 issue of Nature Journal, Leonard Susskind and his team from Stanford University think that the existence of our universe would require a miracle, or outside intervention or from "God".

Published on 12/23/2002 mysterious cloud of high-energy electrons enveloping a young cluster of stars has been discovered by astronomers using NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory. These extremely high-energy particles could cause dramatic changes in the chemistry of the disks that will eventually form planets around stars in the cluster.
